Grizzlies ready to go on vacation

Basketball Betting Lines

03/12/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Memphis owns the worst record in the NBA and is headed towards the lottery. The Grizzlies are a dismal 16-48 and are 14 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies three-year postseason run is definitely coming to an end. They were 0-12 during their three playoff appearances and will be looking to secure the top pick in the lottery for the 2007 NBA Draft.

The New Jersey Nets try to put the brakes on a five-game losing streak when they visit the Grizzlies on Monday at the FedExForum. It is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 11th, Carter posted 37 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while hitting a franchise-record nine three-pointers as the Nets matched a team record for three-pointers made in a game with 15 in their 105-92 victory over the Grizzlies at Continental Airlines Arena.

New Jersey has lost four straight and six of its last seven at the Grizzlies. The Nets have won two in a row in the series.

Memphis attempts to win back-to-back games once again for the first time this season. Pau Gasol poured in 31 points on a 13-of-20 from the floor and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Grizzlies knocked off Charlotte, 115-107, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Hakim Warrick scored 18 points and Mike Miller netted 17 for the Grizzlies, who snapped a six-game losing skid. Rookie Rudy Gay posted 16 points and 10 boards in the win for Memphis, which finished a sizzling 56 percent shooting from the floor.

The Grizzlies open a five-game homestand against New Jersey. They are 11-20 at home this season. Memphis will also host Cleveland, Chicago, the Hornets and Lakers on the current stand.

Gasol leads the Grizzlies in scoring (20.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg). He has scored in double-digits in 40 of 41 games this season and has collected 21 double-doubles this season.

Memphis has scored over 100 points in nine of its last 12 contests. The Grizzlies are scheduled to play 10 of its final 18 games this season at home.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season.  What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season.  Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all.  Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13).  Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two.  Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury.  Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven.  Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury.  Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.

In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

Just because it is the All-Star break doesn’t mean that you can’t bet on NBA hoops this weekend.  Be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com to bet on who you think will cut down the nets this July. Also, be sure to check out all of the lines and props for All-Star weekend.  With the highest credit card acceptance rate in the industry, there are plenty of ways to cash in on the NBA this weekend.
